Moot Meals: #SummerBloggerChallenge Week 3 Edition: Ms. Doll's Famous Dollcakes

Week three (kinda...) and the theme is trying out a new recipe. This pancake recipe is not new to my life, but it's the first time I've made them on my own. It differs from traditional pancakes because instead of using a non-stick pan, I'm frying them up! Don't be afraid to try them out for yourself!


  • 1 1/2 cup of flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder (Only needed if using self rising flour)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup of oil [veggie]
  • 1/2 cup of milk to start
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • pan
  • spatula

Let's Get Cooking!

1. Add your dry ingredients to a bowl and mix
2. Add egg and milk; mix
3. Continue to add milk (1/4 of a cup at a time) until correct consistency is reached
4. Pour 1/4 of oil into medium sized pan on medium heat
5. Test readiness by dropping a tiny bit of mix into pan
6. When the amount added for testing begins bubbling rapidly, the oil is hot enough
7. Drop three large dollops into pan
8. Turn over once the top of the pancake begins to bubble
9. Peak at the underside of pancake to see how done it looks (how brown it has become)
           -If needed, flip again for added crispness
10. Serve with your favorite sides (Bacon, potatoes, eggs, anything!) and enjoy!

This is my favorite way to have pancakes! They're essentially fried, but they are so fluffy and you can make them as big or small as you'd like. I realized I used the wrong type of flour, so mine didn't come out as great as the ones my mother makes. But, het, now I know!
