#SummerBloggerChallenge Week 1: Solid Summer Plans

12:27 PM

Now that it's officially summer (well, as of a week or so ago... I'm a little late, as usual), I'm participating in the Summer Blogger Challenge! It's a 14 week challenge hosted by the lovely Charlotte over at Velvet and Vinyls.

To get things started, this week's prompt is plans for the summer. I talked about a few things I was excited for back when I was getting into finals week, but now school is out and my break has gotten into full swing.

So far I've made trips to the beach, Disney, and of course worked my tail off, but that's only a fraction of what I want to do with the remaining time until the fall semester begins. I'd really like to visit some art museums for their summer offerings and new exhibits!

The Dali Museum has a new event that is centered around one of my favorite paintings there, the "Gala Contemplating the Mediterranean Sea Which at Twenty Meters Becomes a Portrait of Abraham Lincoln (Homage to Rothko)." I absolutely love that there are four pictures in this one painting. It really just depends on where you're standing. With the new exhibit, you can put yourself in the painting and make your own portrait at twenty meters. Also, some days you only have to show your student ID and the whole thing is free! There's a wishing tree and a really awesome maze to check out when you're done with the exhibit and you're in the heart of downtown St. Pete, so there's tons more to do once you finish with the Dali.

Another summer must is the Summer Nights event at Busch Gardens. The typical theme park stuff: roller coasters, park food, expensive trinkets... but now with added nightly firework show and DJs and stuff. I haven't been to an official Summer Nights event... actually, I haven't been to Busch Gardens in years, but I think it will be a bunch of fun with some friends. It's closer and much cheaper than Disney for a bigger group.

There's so much to be done and to keep doing (you can never go wrong with a trip to the beach when you live in Florida) for the last month and a half of summer. I can't wait to get out and about... well, once the daily rainstorm passes!

What are some of your plans for summer? Have you already crossed some of your plans off of your list? I'd love to hear what you all have been up to and some ideas for my summer as well! If you'd like to check out the other participants' posts, hop over here and get reading!
