March Favorites

3:33 PM

It's been a while since I did a favorites post (or video... goodness) and I figured it was an easy way to get back on track. School is winding down and big things are following quickly behind! I have a post coming soon about how eventful my March was, but for now let's talk about some of my favorites for the month!

Lolita - I went crazy trying to get this liquid to matte lipstick and I'm so glad I did. I actually ended up with three tubes (Thank you to the Mr.) and am hoping to get more. I don't ever want to run out of this color! This is my "your lips, but better", perfect nude shade if i only apply one layer. It's the perfect ashy pink if I go for two and just like Outlaw (the perfect red lip in the same line), it's staying power is amazing! I can wear it for an entire shift at Urban without a reapplication and I can eat and drink all I want and it fades nicely. Reapplication doesn't make it clumpy like some products, so when I do feel the need to add another layer, I don't have to wipe it off and start all over. I find that it looks best with a universal lip liner all over the lip underneath. I love the Sephora Collection liner. If you can get your hands on this lipstick, do it!

Venus palette - This was actually on my Christmas list last year, but was constantly sold out (much like Lolita). I hadn't really lusted after it the way I did Lolita because Lime Crime doesn't have a brick and mortar so I couldn't go in and stalk the display. This was a random gift from Misha and I am so glad he remembered that I wanted it. It's got amazing pigmentation and there is no fall out! I recently got the Naked Basics palette and was really disappointed by the amount of product that fell off of my brush and onto my cheeks. The colors from this palette are very 90's grunge and they look great with my skin tone. It's currently in stock on Lime Crime's site and I would highly recommend you get ahold of it if you like that grungy look.

Skin Care

Buffy body butter - Recently, I've been a little more stressed than usual and the weather has been going back and forth and for the first time since I was a child, my eczema flared up. Luckily, it's only on my biceps, but it has been a struggle! I went into Lush to see if they had something I could use to at least help with the itching and I was not disappointed! I bought a chunk of the Buffy bar and have decided that I need to sign up for their automatic re-order for it. It worked like a dream. It killed the itch and moisturized my skin so well. No need for lotion after and the fragrance is with you all day without overpowering you. If you're having trouble with dry skin or eczema, I'd say give it a shot. It's all natural , so it really couldn't hurt.

Steven Universe - Yeah, I'm 22 and yeah, I still watch cartoons, but hey... I'm not hurting anyone so what's it really matter. I recently gave in and caught up on Steven Universe. It's really awesome because they put each episode out on their blogspot after it premieres. I took about ten hours that I spread out over three days and had a mini binge session. I'm in so far! It's an extremely diverse cast, both in animation and with voice actors. Estelle is Garnet. It's full of great messages for kids and adults alike, and it deals with some surprisingly heavy themes in a great way. I've cried, I'm not going to lie. It's beautifully animated and the music is great too. The creator, Rebecca Sugar, worked on Adventure Time, so the humor can be similar. But, even if you weren't a huge fan of Adventure time, I still recommend you give it a watch. The episodes are only 15 minutes too, so it's great if you're getting ready in the morning.

Cinderella (2015) - Classic Cinderella, the 1950's animated version, was my least favorite princess movie as a kid. Cindy was always my least favorite when princess rankings came up in conversation, but oh my goodness... this movie is definitely one of my favorites in a while. It is so visually stunning and while it is essentially the same movie as the animated Cindy (there are some twists and changes that are... emotional), it affected me very differently. I want Disney to update Cindy's look at the park again. Just everything about this movie was perfect. My one critique is that Cindy and the Prince didn't sing "So this is love," which, despite Cinderella not being a favorite movie, was one of my favorite classic Disney songs. If you haven't seen it yet, go see it! I can't wait for it to come out on Blu-Ray. I'm totally getting a collector's edition if they release one. Next is Beauty and the Beast and then Mulan! I'm really digging the live action remakes. We also saw Chappie last month because Misha is a huge Die Antwoord fan, and that was a pretty cute movie... it's a handful though!

Engagement ring - I got engaged last month!!! There will be a post all about that, but I have been totally obsessed with and in love with my ring. There really isn't too much to say about it. It's not an extremely typical style ring beyond the three stone style. I don't really know how to describe the sides... they're matte and have a cut through the center of that section of the band. It's really strange wearing a ring 24/7, but it's such a good pick me up to look down and see it.

What are some of the things you really enjoyed in March? I would love to hear about them.
